This past weekend was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It was filled with many a good times amongst some great company.
Friday night, my face met its worst enemy—extractions. I hadn’t gotten a facial in many, many years, and the bff had highly recommended the one we were booked for, so I said “why not?” It was a deal on a website so I figured there’s no better time to test run a place—I was in dire need of a facial anyway. Boy, I tell you, there is no pain like extractions, especially if your skin is just bad bad bad. I try to take care of my skin, I do, but obviously I have no clue in hell what I’m doing because after this facial, my skin has never looked better! I ended up spending what I normally would have on a full priced facial with all the products I purchased. Surprisingly, the lovely ladies of Tre Balm didn’t push me into buying anything at all, it was only after I asked that she let me know which ones she had used on me. Two thumbs way up, I highly approve and will soon be seeking another appointment.
Saturday was unexpectedly enjoyable. A friend was up from Southern California to see his girlfriend and brought our college group together for lunch. I hadn’t seen this bunch since the last time he was visiting so the afternoon was spent catching up. Now, let me tell you about this friend. His name is Keith and he’s like a big child at heart. He likes to climb things and randomly go places out of spontaneity. This is how we ended up at the beach. Granted, it was a gorgeous day outside (see picture from last post). Thank goodness for that or I would’ve been quite the unhappy camper. I also wasn’t prepared for this little hike in the sand of ours as I was wearing jeweled flats and had brought my largest purse along. Nevertheless, it was an interesting afternoon filled with, oddly enough, many sexual innuendos that I will leave out of this post. Boys will be boys right?

I told you he likes to climb around.
The day passes by quicker when you’re having too much fun, but evening had a surprise in store for my dad. His 60th was fast approaching so we planned a little get together with his old friends that he hadn’t seen in about a decade. Unfortunately when he got to the restaurant, I was too excited to see his reaction that I forgot to freeze it in time with a snapshot. This purposeful look will have to suffice—it’s the closest thing to what he really looked like:

Although it wasn’t a party to celebrate my existence, (what were they thinking right?!), I was having too good a time to want it to end. Watching my dad and his friends interact was such a reminder to me that friends are to be cherished. The good ones stick around even after years and years of not seeing one another—it’d have been like no time has passed. That was what it was like watching them—grown men acting like young boys on the schoolyard.

What’s 10 years between friends? It’s just another number to these guys.
Sunday was another beautiful day in San Francisco. The sun was shining, the clouds were parted, and I of course, was running late. I almost canceled on meeting up with the bestie at the mall but the sun literally dragged me out of bed. I love long drives alone, but even more than that, I love long drives alone on the 280S with the sun lighting up its scenic route. It was a productive few hours at Valley Fair, where we did just enough damage to feel satisfied. Boiling crab awaited our arrival at night…only to have us find out that it was going to be a 2.5 hour wait. Luckily, we had a local friend offer up his place for everyone (but me) to feast on crab legs and shrimp. It’s always interesting to mesh friends from one group with another and this was one of those nights—all in all, a fun one indeed.
Too bad the weekend came and went so quickly..and I was the only one who had work the next day.
So cheers to our friends—the old ones, the new ones, and the ones we wait 10 years to see again. May you always be around.
friendship is, right?
